The concept of the club itself has changed slightly and the new aim is to educate, empower and inspire women teetering on the edge of Mount Olympus by providing information on Greek marriage, traditions, language, health and wellbeing and much more.
Whether you are looking to start up your own business, write your own Greek themed book, book a holiday to the Greek islands or simply want to learn more about the Greek culture, the GWC is there to help.
The club originally started in 2012 as a place for all the wives, partners and girlfriends of Greek men (and any other interested folk) to come together and share their comical tales, frustrations, recipes and general philosophy about life with a Greek man. It quickly expanded into a large community of women (and the odd gent!) with links to the Hellenic world, whether that be through direct Greek heritage, marriage, business, or travel links.
Rather than simply acting as a fun place to network, I have now broadened the club’s horizons by turning it into a directory to allow members to socialise with like-minded individuals and help to promote businesses, bloggers, authors and others whose work centres around relevant themes.
I have put together a group of trusted professionals to make up the GWC team which will include female family lawyers, business consultants, food and travel experts and am working on a list of business services to be able to provide a unique creative consultancy, writing, editing and mentoring program for those who need help realising their entrepreneurial dream.
We offer copywriting and editing services, advertising packages, and a business directory. The directory is currently FREE so if you run a business that is in any way related to the Hellenic realm, e.g. wedding planner, christening shop, Greek food blog, Greek spa, boutique Greek hotel etc, then please do register and submit your listing so that you can promote yourself to all of our followers.
There will also be new blog posts to help promote the book of the month as well as a new recipe section. Opportunities for other bloggers to blog for the GWC are also available so please do get in touch if you would like to share your voice.
Cultural understanding is a very important topic in today’s modern society as is gender equality and the two concepts together can often result in clashes. The GWC is there to help anyone who needs support in these areas and wants to break through the stereotypical traditional barriers.
If you would like to advertise your business, feature your Greek-themed book, network with us or just say a friendly hello, please check out the new website www.thegreekwivesclub.com, follow us on twitter @greekwivesclub, check out our pinterest board or like the facebook page.
If you have been kind enough to feature the GWC logo on your blog with a link to the website, please feel free to download the updated logo below. Opa!
