A quick beauty post for you all today! Other than Valentine’s Day, February can be an incredibly dull month. In the UK the weather is usually bad, new years resolutions have gone out the window, and summer seems so far away.
BUT you can still keep yourself looking fresh with a little help from the BB brigade.
BB cream stands for Beauty/Blemish Balm and is promoted as an all-in-one facial cosmetic product to replace serum, moisturizer, primer, foundation and sunblock. It can be worn alone as a tinted moisturizer, over serum and moisturizer as a regular foundation, and under powder, depending on the desired amount of coverage.
I highlighted the advantages of using BB cream instead of normal foundation in my Working Mum Daily Make-Up post but there is a huge range on the market and it can be difficult to choose which one is right for you.
All beauty brands seem to do their own line of BB cream but personally I prefer the Garnier range.
My favourite is the BB Cream + Blur which has a hint of primer in it and is great for daily use as I don’t bother with a primer in general.
Another choice is the BB Cream Miracle Skin Perfector which includes SPF 15. In the morning I already apply an spf so probably wouldn’t need this and apparently you are actually meant to wear higher than spf 15 on a daily basis…
If you’ve got a bit of a tan going on why not try the Garnier Miracle Skin Perfector BB Cream AntiAging which apparently reduces the appearance of wrinkles and leaves skin feeling firmer so you can have perfect-looking skin whilst helping to combat the signs of ageing.
I also have the Garnier BB Eye Roll On for those pesky dark under eye circles although I feel that it is just a tad too thin for my liking and would prefer something thicker.
You can of course go for a store’s own make like Superdrug BB Cream 5-in-1 Day Cream. This combines a moisturiser, primer, concealer and foundation which is perfect to keep at work if I suddenly need a face overhaul. It’s cheaper than Garnier but I will admit that it doesn’t smell as nice.
You could also try the Superdrug 5-in-1 BB Eye cream which conceals imperfections and dark circles and boosts under eye radiance with 24 hour hydration. Which means it pretty much does the same thing as any other under eye concealer but is reasonably priced and goes on nicely.
So will you be jumping on the BB bandwagon or are you already a fan? Which brand do you use?
