YouTube. The final frontier. These are the voyages of vloggers. Their continuing mission: to explore new beauty, fashion or food products…to seek out new followers; to boldly go where lots of other bloggers / vloggers have gone before.
And I’m still trying to keep up with the pack.
So I’ve got no idea why I decided to start this post with the opening lines from Star Trek but it just seemed fitting for my first vlog of the year.
Over the last few months I’ve been procrastinating a lot on YouTube – checking popular vloggers channels and seeing what kind of content they keep throwing up….er…I mean throwing OUT, to the public.
The majority of these (annoyingly young!) vloggers seem to do beauty videos which I must admit I quite enjoy watching, but there are some out there that just boggle my mind. Anyway, as some of you may have seen I’ve filmed a few little clips in the past which I’ve added to various blog posts – a couple of travel videos and let’s not forget my How to Make Greek Coffee video which pulled in the punters (well a few at least!) and my Make-Up Tutorial parody which people thought was just weird.
But this year I thought that I would set myself a youtube challenge and do a few more just to add a bit of colour and life to my written blog posts. Twelve more in fact. One for each month of the year. And perhaps a few extra ones around my birthday in April. Just because. Of course Zoella need not fear for I have neither the time nor the inclination nor the funding (!) to film, edit and promote a YouTube Channel to the extent of these vlogging superstars BUT I thought the odd video now and then might be fun and well, you never know where these things might lead…like to You’ve been Framed…
So I thought that I would kick off the new year with a Q & A vlog as that’s what all the top youtubers seem to be doing these days. I collated ten of the most interesting questions I’ve been asked over the years and answered them to the camera for your viewing pleasure, or displeasure.
For all those interested, I filmed this entirely on my iPhone 6S. I do have a semi-professional Sony camera, but for some reason it is not completely compatible with my Mac so I have to re-format EVERY SINGLE clip before editing it all in iMovie which is HIGHLY ANNOYING. Filming on the phone is so quick and simple these days and I do actually have a backlight and tripod for indoor filming (see my Software Equipment post here) so I hope it looks reasonably clear.
If anyone has any vlog ideas for me do comment below and I will consider whether to take them seriously or not (!) but for now I leave you with my first video of 2017 and if you like what you see, please do check out the rest of my YouTube Channel and SUBSCRIBE.
DISCLAIMER: Just so you are aware I filmed this when I was 36 weeks pregnant and a bit all over the place so can only describe my thought process for this video as HORMONALLY CHALLENGED.
