My Summer Playlist

My Summer Playlist

The summer playlist post is doing the rounds in the blogosphere and I thought that I would jump right on the bandwagon. There have been some brilliant tracks in the charts recently but I still do the time warp and hit play on my favourite tracks of old whenever the sun is out. So if you’re interested, come see what’s on my summer playlist!

*

To Kalokairi Mou (My Summer)

I first heard this track by Mihalis Hatzigiannis in Cyprus in 2011 when on my first holiday with the Greek man. The holiday has since faded from memory (!) but the track remains one of my all time summer favourites.

MMMBop

What can I say, my sister and I were absolutely IN LOVE with Hanson back in the 90’s (and still are!). Their tunes were so happy and made me brim with positivity! Mmmbop was Hanson’s debut single and hit the number one spot in 27 countries. Don’t pretend you’re not mmmbopping to this one.

La La Love

The Eurovision Song Contest brings me much joy every year and in 2012 Cyprus lit up the stage with Ivi Adamou and her single La La Love. It’s so darn catchy and a great dance track.

*

Despacito

I imagine this song is probably on everybody’s playlist right now, it is quite simply brilliant. Luis Fonsi has a beautiful voice and whilst I am NOT a fan of Justin Bieber I actually really like this version.

To Mantili (Remix) (The Scarf / The Shawl)

Greek music is amazing and this track by Konstantinos Pantzi and Nikos Souliotis has me dancing all night long. I’m not usually a fan of remixes but this one is just fantastic. So let’s dance! Click here for the English translation.

So there you have it guys, five of the main tracks that I’ve been playing and replaying all day and all night long this summer. Now hit play and get plate-smashing!

    Hi Ekaterina,
I must admit I don’t find myself tapping my foot to much these days, (that’s because I’m still feeling confused), but ‘To Mantili’ had me going 🙂 . Welcome home by the way.

I love this music Ekaterina. I really like foreign music and I don’t think you have to know all or any of the words to enjoy the music if it is a good tune. I still remember Habibi by Amor Diab https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WSAU9ydCOw4&vl=en and Si Exceptionnel by Andrew Watters https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tjPVsAOscrE and both are still amongst my favourite songs and I can pretty much sing them too.

I already know your English language songs but I have To Mantili on replay right now 🙂

I’m off on a tour but will make sure to visit Argos on the way to London to pick up some plates for a good old Greek bash! Another Si Exceptionnel blog 🙂
