Happy Tuesday all! I hope you are all well and that the month of May holds exciting prospects for everyone. So some of you may have noticed that I haven’t been blogging a lot lately. If you haven’t noticed then hmmph, I thought I meant something to you!
I haven’t been posting as much due to a bout of sickness and a bout of blogging disillusionment. Although I do offer advertising and various other make-money-from-your-blog-schemes, Ekaterina’s Greek Expectations is essentially just a hobby and it is becoming increasingly difficult to juggle my day job, freelance writing, quality time with my family, The Greek Wives Club and all the ridiculous social media that bloggers are expected to keep up with.
I was recently told that I should be more active on YouTube in order to drive more traffic to my blog. Sorry to disappoint guys (!) but despite the odd video here and there to add some fun to a blog post, I just don’t have the time nor the inclination to film myself every Friday, edit on the Saturday and upload on the Sunday. I admire those bloggers / vloggers who can juggle all the social media outlets and deliver quality blog posts and videos every single week, but I just can’t do it. And I’ve got to the stage where I just don’t want to.
When blogging starts to become a chore rather than a joy, you know you’ve hit a brick wall.
So I’ve decided to take a break and concentrate on my children’s book for now (see my author website at www.ekaterinabotziou.com) and in true lower-than-Z-list-celebrity-status-fashion I thought I would announce my mini sabbatical on social media.
Of course I won’t completely neglect my ‘fans’ and there will be the odd facebook and instagram reblog or photo to keep things ticking along. I know that a true blogger wouldn’t dare miss a post and let their stats drop but to be honest, when your writing becomes all about numbers and not the words, the joy just gets sucked right out.
So don’t cry for me friends and readers, the truth is I’ll never leave you.
I’m off to the husband-land (Cyprus…where else…) at the end of the month and hope to attend a friend’s fashion show so there WILL be a blog post on that but I can’t give a precise date.
In the meantime do head on over to my sister’s blog The Gluten Free Greek for lots of Greek gluten-free fun!
Oh and if anyone is in Cyprus end of May do let me know so we can smash some plates together. I’ll probably be down at Hobos or attempting to catch some rays at Palm Beach. If you can’t find me there it’s because I’ve escaped in the batmobile pictured above.
Have a great May everyone!
