I’ve gone a bit mad for make-up this March (in the run up to my 30th birthday!!!) but seeing as this is not a beauty blog, I thought it best to include some other bits n’ bobs I’m loving right now. Like chocolate…again. So here goes!
I’ve thrown a lot of old make-up bits out this month and have been deciding what staple pieces I want to re-buy. I only wear proper foundation for special occasions and was previously simply using my Garnier BB Cream as my daily base. However, I’ve noticed that it’s not as dewy looking as it once was (probably because it’s old!) and the concealers I sometimes use as a base weren’t lasting, or were creasing up/flaking. So I decided to push the boat out and try the Estée Lauder Double Wear Nude Cushion Stick.
At first I wasn’t even sure what this was meant to do, but it’s basically a very light foundation – more like a BB cream, that evens skin tone and provides light coverage. I liked the idea of the buffing cushion but I don’t really use it as its a bit flimsy so I just dab some onto my skin, then use a brush or beauty blender. I won’t lie, it’s a bit pricey for what it is and for some the coverage might be too light BUT, I prefer the natural look and the liquid is very hydrating and leaves a lovely dewy look. Also the colour matches my skin perfectly (I use Desert Beige) whereas my other BB creams and concealers can be a bit off.
Moving onto the lips, I am a sucker for bright bold lipsticks and Huda Beauty’s Liquid Matte Lipsticks are all the rage right now. I usually prefer lipsticks with a bit of a shine, not too glossy, but not completely matte, however I decided to try Huda Beauty out and I was not disappointed. The colours are simply beautiful and there is a shade to suit everyone. The lipsticks are so easy to apply, are highly pigmented so the colours are really strong, and they last much longer than my other lip products do without being drying. Btw I want to warn everyone that after purchasing an original from Cult Beauty, I then had a look on eBay to see if I could find them cheaper. Well I did, but they weren’t original and I could tell straight away, even though the packaging was a very good copy.
My favourite shade is ‘Showgirl’ which unfortunately is ONLY currently available in the ‘Red Edition’ Liquid Matte Mini Box. It is a vibrant cranberry with a foil finish which gives it a metallic hue. Simply stunning.
Easter is just around the corner so naturally I have been stocking up on my creme eggs. For any kind of Easter topping decoration though you can’t go wrong with the wonder that is a box of mini eggs. For more egg inspiration check out my Top Ten Easter Eggs post.
Next month is my son’s second birthday but rather than going all out and buying him every toy in sight (!) I’m trying to be more careful and choosy now so that he has items that he really likes and that are educational / useful / long lasting. Aside from toy cars (my Greek man is so proud) he loves animal figurines, dinosaurs and flap books so we’ve slowly been building a collection to rival London Zoo’s souvenir shop. The Early Learning Centre have an array of creatures to collect including the more expensive Schleich range which are completely bankrupting me. This Zoo (My First Peekaboo) book is a lovely little read for toddlers who are just learning to say the names of different animals.
On the Blog
In January I finally subscribed to the magazine that is taking the blogging world by storm: Blogosphere. You can subscribe to get the magazine sent to you or buy it each quarter but I decided to supposedly save money and get more perks by subscribing and it’s been worth every penny. It’s a pretty hefty read and I find it very hard to actually find the time to sit down and read all the info (there are a lot of useful articles for serious bloggers and youtubers) but it’s one of those beautifully designed mags that you can keep or display and I’m really enjoying reading every page.
What have been your favourites this month?
