As a child I spent a lot of my free time outside come rain or shine, playing with friends on our bikes or battling obstacle courses in the garden. Nowadays (yeesh I sound old!) iPads and computers seem to have taken over, but with all the great outdoor toys I’ve seen there really is no excuse for kids to stay cooped up inside! So I thought I would do a quick run through of my kid’s favourite outdoor summer toys.
THE PADDLING POOL
The must have item for every summer is a paddling pool. We bought the Bestway Angry Birds Interactive Paddling Pool and the kids absolutely love it. As do I. It’s a really good size and whilst we don’t really use the interactive blow up bits, they add a nice touch.
THE SAND AND WATER TABLE
Most children love playing with water and what goes well with water? Sand. This Sand and Water Table with Double Compartment can fit sand in one side and water in the other, or sand in both sides or water if you prefer! It’s such great fun and includes a number of assorted accessories. There is also a lid with a car track etched into it, so even when closed the table provides hours of entertainment.
THE WATER GUN
If you’re going to get the paddling pool and the sand pit you might as well carry on the fun with a water gun. There are so many different types to choose from but I find that for younger kids, the simpler the better. Try the foam water guns or the Double Stream Machine Water Launchers for hours of soaking fun!
A lot of the scooters I’ve seen are for children of at least 3 years of age. This poses a problem for toddlers who are itching to get scooting but aren’t quite ready to balance themselves. So when I came across the Micro Mini 2 Go Deluxe Scooter I snapped it up straight away. Suitable from 18 months to 5 years, the scooter includes a seat and storage underneath which can be removed when the child is confident enough to ride standing up. Brilliant!
Some toys never go out of fashion and that can definitely be said for the Little Tikes Classic Cozy Coupe Ride-on. I remember desperately wanting one of these as a child and I am now living that dream through my son. Bright, robust and takes up little parking space (!)
