Top Romantic Destinations in Cyprus
Spring is the season for romance as nature bursts into life and the air is filled with the scent of blossoming flowers. With the dizzying excitement of summer just around the corner, now is the time for rejuvenation and renewal to awaken our mind, body, soul and spirit. Hidden within the mountains and nestled amongst the sleepy villages waits Cyprus’ most luxurious and peaceful resorts, oozing with aristocratic elegance and offering well-being and a release from the stresses of daily life. If you are looking to combine some much needed rest and relaxation with a little romance, look no further than these secluded bolt holes for a cosy and restorative break.
The Library Hotel and Wellness Resort
Settled in a quiet street to the left of the Kalavasos square, facing the St. Marys Tetiotissa Church, stands a beautifully restored stone-built mansion lovingly christened ‘The Library Hotel’. With a philosophy that centers on well-being and catharsis of mind and body, the hotel is a peaceful retreat that seeks to nurture and sooth those who stay.
The Library’s owner, Savvas Varnavides, is himself a philosopher, writer and poet who has shared his love of literature in the form of the hotel’s library lounge and relaxation area. Varnavides’ literary influence is reflected through the hotels inspired and elegant decor, particularly in the eleven exquisite suites, which he has named after different writers, thinkers and poets such as Oscar Wilde, Friedrich Nietzche and Jore Luis Borghes. The cosy library is the heart of the hotel, filled with a collection of literature with an emphasis on philosophy, health, culture and civilization. With its open fireplace and comfortable Italian designer furniture, the romantic setting takes you right back to the 19th century.
The hotel homes a small spa where houseguests can elevate their spirit at the Potamonde Wellness Baths with a variety of treatments including hot stone massage and the traditional rassoul mud bath. Culinary wellbeing is also taken care of with healthy gourmet dining at the Mitos Mediterranean Restaurant and the Sun Veranda and Bar. With features reminiscent of a modern day Asclepius temple, The Library Hotel takes complete care of the mind, body and soul.
The Apokrifo Hotel
Literally meaning ‘hidden away’, the aptly named Apokrifo Hotel is made up of a cluster of renovated old stone houses that sit secluded at the edge of the picturesque village of Lofou. Each of the unique 28 guest rooms were once village homes, and have been lovingly restored to their true character. All rooms are en-suite and furnished with antiques, retaining their original features such as stone walls and wooden beams.
